unit finished off with red chestnut stain, then all nail holes and gaps filled with a blend/fill pencil. top coat is varathane triple thick in satin.

Step 1: Framing

frame is made out of 2x3 material and secured with 4-1/2" lag screws throughout.

Step 2:

skinning the frame with 1/2'' birch plywood. edges cut on 45's for a solid piece look. material secured with wood glue and 1" brad nails.

Step 3:

fully assembled shelf.

Step 4:

fully assembled unit before stain/poly.

I would love to do this and paint the backdrop like a Super Mario scene :)
