Introduction: Flying Santa Ornament
Hello! For the holidays, I was trying to think of some unique and original yet simple way to make the decorations under the tree different then most. What i came up with is pretty cool. It takes a santa ornament and flies him around in a 2 foot circle. It uses parts that you most likely have in your garage.
Step 1: Parts
What you need:
-an old microwave turntable motor
-a metal coat hanger
-a santa claus ornament (I didn't have one so I had to use a picture to fill in)
-some electrical tape
-wire cutters
-an old microwave turntable motor
-a metal coat hanger
-a santa claus ornament (I didn't have one so I had to use a picture to fill in)
-some electrical tape
-wire cutters
Step 2: Shaping the Wire
First, cut the wire hanger so you get a length of about 18 inches. This will determine how far santa "flies". You must bend about one inch at the bottom at a 150 degree angle so the wire goes in a diagonal away from the motor. Straighten the rest of the wire so its roughly straight.
Step 3: Attaching the Wire
Stick the bent part of the wire into the plastic hole on the top of the motor. Tape the wire onto the shaft of the motor.
Step 4: Attaching the Ornament
Attach the ornament onto the other end of the wire. Unfortunately, we didn't have an ornament that would work, so i had to print out a picture and attach it for this demonstration. You really can use anything, such as a plane, or Superman, but since its almost Christmas I felt Santa would be appropriate.
