Introduction: Foldable Skateboard

Most skateboards are harder to carry around because of their long and wide shape, and when you're trying to transport it through a crowd of people, or put it in your car without taking up a lot of space, it's really hard to transport it! But with this working foldable skateboard, all those problems will be solved.

Supplies

You can build this skateboard out of an existing skateboard, but it is more easy and safe to build it from scratch.

You need:

  • 180/40/1 centimeter board of hardwood (or any type of strong wood)
  • 8 metal hinges
  • 12 door bolts
  • 4 skateboard wheels and base (singular)
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue

Step 1: Build the Base Board

The baseboard contains 4 components:

  • 4x 10/45/1 boards with a 90 degree curve on one corner (corner piece)
  • 2x 90/20/1 boards (sides)
  • 2x 20/46/1 boards (heads)
  • 1x 90/20/1 board (body)
  1. Cut these components out with the exact measurements or exponential measurements so the skateboard will be symmetrical and equal.
  2. Place the components so they form the shape shown in the diagram.

Step 2: Add the Top Hinges

Take 6 hinges and use hot glue to stick them on to the areas marked in the picture.

Step 3: Add the Bottom Hinges

Take two hinges and place and hot glue them in the places according to the map. Do this on the OTHER SIDE of the board!

Step 4: Add Board Locks

Take the 12 door locks and arrange them on the board as the design shows. However, make sure the locks DO NOT hit each other when the board folds!

Step 5: Add the Wheels

For the final step, hot glue the wheels to the board on the positions marked in the diagram, or in any place that suits you. Make sure, however, that is is horizontally and vertically symmetrical!

Step 6: Optional Things to Do

What can you do now with your foldable skateboard?

Here are some ideas:

  • Add rockets
  • Paint it
  • Attack grips
  • Switch to forever wheels
  • Add a handle for easier transport
  • Add shocks/suspension

Try out these, or post some of your own ideas in the comments!
