Introduction: Fortune Cookie Hack

Here i will show you how to make your sweetie feel special, save a buck, and make a really tasty treat.

Step 1: The Cookies

First go pick up some fortune cookies from your favorite chinese restaurant. Or you can make them yourself here is a recipe that is pretty tasty but i did not have time to make it for this instructable.
2 large egg whites
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
8 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 teaspoons water
makes ten. or 3 giant ones depending on how you measure out the batter.
First beat egg whites, vanilla extract, and oil until frothy. Then mix in the dry ingredients. Trace circles, and spoon on a thin layer of batter. I recommend only making two at a time until you get fast because as soon as you take the cookie out of the oven you only have about 30 seconds to shape it and add your fortune. Before shaping your cookie place the custom fortune you made in the middle of your cookie. Then fold the cookie in half and then bring the two edges together. Use the thin lip of a cup to shape your cookies. Also use a muffin tin to store your cookies while they harden.

Step 2: Making Your Fortune

Pick a cool font and type in a short but sweet note to your cutie. Since there is going to be a dance I decided to ask my boo to go like this. I wrote his nickname and asked if he would go. Then i cut out the thin strip and pulled out the fortune that was already inside my cookie. If this is too difficult warm up your cookie in the microwave to make it more pliable. After this your cookies are ready to go if you want but i added an little something something for my babe.

Step 3: Customizing Your Cookie

Pick your sweeties favorite meltable candy bar. I chose hershys's cookies n cream, i melted the bar then i dipped my cookies in it. Then let them sit in the fridge for about fifteen minutes to make sure they are hardened. But if your sweetie's favorite candy bar isn't exactly something you can just melt down, you also try to recreate the flavor by trying different chocolate and topping combinations. To make them valentine'sy you can get white chocolate and mix red food coloring into it. There are a million choices. Such as milk chocolate and peanuts, white chocolate and oreo pieces, dark chocolate drizzled with white ect. Have fun with it and your sweetie will love it.
