Introduction: Four Winged Paper Airplane
Step 1: Gather Materials
You will need:
- one sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper.
- assorted sizes and weights of paper clips(optional)
-scissors
- one sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper.
- assorted sizes and weights of paper clips(optional)
-scissors
Step 2: Begin Creating Your Square
Begin by turning your paper long-ways left and right. Fold the lower left hand corner towards the upper right hand corner until the left edge is even with the upper edge (it should look like the picture at this point).Crease this so that you can see it when you unfold it. Open the paper up again and return the paper to it's original position.Make another fold moving the upper left-hand corner towards the lower right-hand corner so that the left edge of the paper is even with the bottom edge. The creases will create an x shape on your paper.
Step 3: Finishing Your Square
Re-fold along one of the creases and fold over and crease the excess that is not two layers thick.
Step 4: Remove the Excess
What you just folded over can be cut off, or if you don't have scissors you can lick the folded edge and tear. Save this excess, it will become your tail.
Step 5: Body, First Step
With the raised center up, fold the upper edge towards the lower edge and crease. The images make this clearer.
Step 6: Body, Second Step
Fold both ends of the fold you just made together, the first few folds you made will work with you creating a triangle. This step may be confusing the first time.(any suggestions?)
Step 7: Body, Step Three
Press down on your triangle, creasing all of your angles. I'm sorry I keep repeating this, but it is important for a clean finished product.
Step 8: Beggining the Wings
Fold the triangle, side to side, in half. Once again, crease.
Step 9: Begin the Tail
The excess you cut off in step four will now be used. Fold it in half, length wise
Step 10: Finishing the Tail
Cut a few inches of one side of the tail halfway down vertically, fold both sides down so they are perpendicular to the rest of the tail held upright, this will form your horizontal stabilizer. If you hold the tail next to the body (I wish I had taken a picture of this) you can fold the other side in to match the angle of the nose(you may understand later).
Step 11: Add the Tail Section
The tail section can now be slid into the body how it best fits, try experimenting a little.
Step 12: Creating Your Wings
Fold the top down to the level of the tail(refer to the picture), repeat this on the other side as well.
Step 13:
The wings should be separated and made individual like in the picture, you may want to skip ailerons for the first one, they can complicate things even when not used.
Step 14: Adjustments
Now that you have a finished product you can fly it, and add weight or lift to change how the plane flies. If the plane's nose rises and then stalls(inducing an impressive crash) you should add more weight. Because paperclips only come in so many sizes, small adjustments using ailerons or elevators may be useful.
Step 15: Enjoy!
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoy this plane as much as I do. This was my own idea and was actually built by accident. Feel free to ask questions and make suggestions.
