Introduction: Fresh Baked Apple Pi Pie
My favorite apple pie recipe with a little added mathematical flair!
Used a simple recipe for homemade pie crust: Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup shortening, and 1/4 cup water. Rolled the dough out and place it over the 9 inch pie plate. I made sure there was some overhang to make room for numbers!
My apple filling: 3 apples peeled and sliced, 1/4 cup granola, 1 tablespoon ginger seasoning, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix it all together and arrange in the dough covered pie plate.
Now the fun part! Fold over the overhang dough, and use small number cookie cutters to imprint Pi around the crust. Bake for 35 min in 400 degree preheated oven. Fresh apple Pi pie!
