Introduction: Open Season Xmas Gift
A USB-stick with some open content software, music and movies makes last minute gift.
Step 1: Four USB-sticks for Four Teens of an Impressionable Age.
For my two nephews and brother in laws I started out by buying four USB-sticks á 4GB .
Step 2: Free Stuff!
I used the best sites I know of for all the free stuff.
PortableApps - carry your favorite computer programs along with all of your bookmarks, settings, email and more with you. Use them on any Windows computer. All without leaving any personal data behind.
Jamendo - on Jamendo artists allow anyone to download and share their music. It's free, legal and unlimited.
Archive.org - The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library. Its purposes include offering permanent access for researchers, historians, scholars, people with disabilities, and the general public to historical collections that exist in digital format.
VODO - All VODO releases are free to download and share under a Creative Commons license. Jurors and Regular Supporters are also able to see and vote on all the work currently under consideration.
LibriVox - LibriVox provides free audiobooks from the public domain.
Step 3: PortableApps
PortableApps - carry your favorite computer programs along with all of your bookmarks, settings, email and more with you. Use them on any Windows computer. All without leaving any personal data behind.
This is some of the most useful travel-accessories I ever had. I downloaded and installed the full suite and a few other things like Frets on Fire, Stellarium and Eraser. See images:
Also, note that although the software is for Windows I'm doing this on Linux. This is made possible because a requirement of PortableApps is that it must work with Wine.
Step 4: Music, Movies and Audiobooks!
I also gathered a few goodies from the other sites such as music, movies and audiobooks.
I wont go in to details but attached are the CD-covers from Jamendo. I also made some new discoveries especially noteworthy is Diablo Swing Orchestra which turned out to be a local band.
Step 5: Clone Your Drives ..
After finishing all the installations I copied everything off the drive (make sure you get the hidden files to) to my harddrive and proceded to copy everything over to each USB-stick. God Jul!

Hello, and welcome to the Instructables community! This currently does not meet our criteria for an Instructable. A completed Instructable:
- details a finished project with instruction (not just links to instructions)
- has clear images that you took of your project (web-found clip-art is not acceptable)
- uses proper spelling and grammar
- contains appropriate cautions or safety considerations
- does not violate someone else's copyright
- does not violate the Instructables terms of service
- is typically written about something you are very passionate about and want to share.
If this is a comment, a question, a small tip, or something that cannot truly be a finish project, please post it as a forum topic. If you are looking to start a collaboration, post a topic in the forums. Look here for tips on writing a great Instructable.

This would be a great project to have on the site but you are going to have to add in some pictures of you actually making the fridge chess board for this to be an Instructable. Can you take some photos, upload them, and then republish your Instructable?

Ooops .. made a new instructable over an old one (no loss there, one I'd given up on).
