Introduction: G4 IMac With Hidden MagSafe Charger

I turned my old iMac into an external monitor with hidden MagSafe charger for my phone

Supplies

  1. G4 iMac
  2. 22" light weight monitor
  3. 3D printer
  4. HDMI cable, 2 pin powerr cable
  5. Arduino nano, H-bridge motor controller, wires
  6. Lego parts

Step 1:

I completely disassembled the iMAC.

Step 2:

Next, i 3d printed this VESA adapter for the iMac's arm.

Step 3:

I installed the adapter and attached the new 22" light weight monitor

Step 4:

Removed the original cables from the arm, and replaced them with a HDMI and a power cable.

Lated added white sticker to the lower bezel.

With this step, the monitor section was finished.

Step 5:

I designed and 3d printed a slider mechanism that will house the MagSafe charger. This will replace the old CD drive.

Step 6:

Added a lego motr and some lego gears to reduce the motor's rotational speed.

Step 7:

I assembled the electonic (arduino nano, h-bridge morot controller, button, power supply), then i uploaded the code to the arduino.

Step 8:

Project was finished
