Introduction: GLITTER TABLE
Materials needed:
• old table (kidney-shaped table)
• any glue (UHU, Mod Podge,....)
• Glitter wrapping paper / fancy paper
• window cleaner
• a rag
• newspaper
Tools needed:
• razor blade
• razor knife or scissor
• hammer
• an old brush or foam brush
I didn´t make pictures of this process because I did it long ago.
Step 1: Search for an Old Table
Search for an old table to use. Its important to use one with a glass plate on top.
I used a kidney-shaped table of the 50s. It didn´t fit in my flat. So I decided to make a glitter table.
Step 2: Remove the Glass Plate
Remove the border of the table (be careful because the glass breaks easily)
It´s better to go on without the table - legs.
I didn´t make pictures of this process because I did it long ago.
Step 3: Scrape Off the Color Coating
Use a razor blade to scrape off the color coating of the glass.
But every table is different. It can be difficult and a God - awful mess. So you should only do it in your workshop or outside.
To protect your workspace you can use newspaper.
Don´t damage the glass or cut yourself. The glass is very thin.
After removing the color coating you have to clean the glass with window cleaner and a rag.
Step 4: Wrapping Paper
If you wan´t to change the color of the wood base you must do it now.
The table I used was in a good condition. Therefore I kept it up.
Cut out the shape of the table. Use a razor knife or any scissor.
Glue the glitter wrapping paper onto the wood table.
(If you don´t find any glitter wrapping paper you can prepare tracing paper with glitter powder.)
Step 5: Reassembly
Put the glass back onto the top of the table.
Clean the original boarding and nail it back to table side.
Optional put some glue between the boarding and the table.
Step 6: Now Your Special Glitter Table Is Finished
Use it as gift or to decorate your own flat. It´s an eye - catcher. ;-)
