Introduction: Game Design in Flick in 5 Steps

Flick is a really simple way of making a game, especially something like a puzzle, visual novel, or adventure game.

Step 1: Step 1: Go to Flickgame.org

Step 2: Step 2: Using the Different Colours, Draw an Image for Your First Frame, Frame 1.

Step 3: Step 3: You Can Now Assign Links to Some of the Colours You Used, So If a Player Clicks on Anything of That Colour, It Takes Them to the Corresponding Frame. Link One of the Colours You Used to Frame 2.

Step 4: Step 4: Open Up Frame 2, Draw a New Image, Assign a Link to a Colour You Have Used So It Links Back to Frame 1.

Step 5: Step 5: Try Playing Your Game!

It isn't much yet, but there are loads of things you can build with this system. Maybe you could build a cave exploration game where the player has to find their way out of a maze. Or maybe you could make a puzzle where the wrong answer leads to a game over screen.

When you've got the hang of Flick, and want something more complex to work with, why not try Adam Le Doux's Bitsy, or Candle's Flicksy which expands on both.
