Introduction: Geocache Mushroom

A quick guide on making an ordinary bison tube into a mushroom.

Step 1: Gather Supplies and Preheat Oven to 275 Degrees F.

You will need
Polyform clay
Bison tube
Construction screw
Paint and brush
Small piece of saran (optional)
Super glue

Step 2:

Remove key ring and discard

Remove rubner ring. (Don't want it to melt in the oven.)

Form clay around the tube until you have desired shape. be sure to leave some room at the top to insure proper closing.

Push construction screw through the bottom until you hit the bottom of the tube. form clay around screw for secure fit

Step 3: Making the Top.

Mold clay into your desired mushroom cap shape.

Turn over and place small piece of clay in the center and press it into place.

Take cap and press into the clay. Remove it. (use a layer of saran for cleaner removal)

Step 4: Time to Bake

Place the top and bottom on pan, (I like to cover my pan in foil first) and place into oven.

Turn timer on fifteen minutes and wait.

Take clay out of oven and wait until its cool enough to handle, or if you're impatient like me place into cool water and wait a just a couple of minutes

Step 5: Finishing

Glue Cap into your hole and let dry.

Paint your mushroom any way you see fit. I used natural colors on this one.

Put rubber ring back into place and fill with log.

Screw cap back on and presto!

Place and enjoy.
