Introduction: GoPro Dog Harness
For my first instructable I decided to show you an easy to make GoPro Dog harness mount.
You only need 3 items to make this:
- A dog harness. (I found one in sale for just 1,50 €)
- The plastic plate from the box your GoPro came in
- Zip ties
Step 1: Drill Holes in the Plastic Plate
Note: The plastic plate fitted perfectly on my dog harness, but before drilling the holes, you might want to check if this is the case for your harness. If not you might have to trim the plate to fit first.
Drill a hole in the plastic on each corner. Be carefull not to break the plastic. Make the hole big enough so that your zip ties will fit through them.
Step 2: Make 4 Holes in the Harness
Put the plastic plate on top of your dog harness. Use a marker to draw where the holes have to be on your harness.
With a knife or a big needle, make 4 holes in the dog harness where you've marked them out.
Step 3: Attach the Plate to the Harness
Put the plastic plate on the dog harness.
Use 4 zip ties and put them through the holes you've made in the previous steps.
When closing the zip ties, make sure the closure is on the top of the harness.
Trim the zip ties, so they don't stick out.
Make sure that there are no sharp edges on the zip ties! You are going to put this harness on your dog, so make sure its safe.
Step 4: Attach Your GoPro to the Dog Harness
Your now have your own GoPro Dog harness mount.
I tested the harness for my dog and found it was best to elevate the camera a bit.
I used the curved quick release buckle, together with the 3-way pivot arm. (see photo)
Step 5: Alternative
For those of you that don't have the plastic from the box anymore, there's another way of making this.
You can use a flat adhesive mount and stick it to a hard piece of plastic. You then drill holes in that piece of plastic. This should also work.
I made a wrist mount using this technique (see photo) and it works great!
Step 6:
I hope you enjoyed my first instructable. I'd love to see what you make of it.
Get your dogs to do a little photoshoot too. Mine was easily persuaded with the promise of a bone ;-)
