Introduction: Gone Fishing Wooden Sign

For this project I created a wooden sign that means something to me, "Gone Fishing". I like going fishing a lot and when my friends and family would ask where I was I would say gone fishing. So I crated a wooden sign with the dimensions of 20x11 that say gone fishing.

Step 1: Video

Step 2: Brain Storming

After thinking of what I should do I came up with an idea of a wooden sign. I got my notebook and started coming up with ideas for it to say.

Step 3: Vcarve

After I got done with my short sketch I decided I liked it a lot and I go to work. I used a program called Vcarve pro it is very easy friendly.

Step 4: Cutting and Gluing

  1. First I sized my material to be cut in half. It was 22 in by 11 in, I will later cut off 1 inch off from each side.
  2. Second I used a Milter saw to cut it into half.
  3. Third I sanded the sides so when I glued them together they would fit well.
  4. Forth I used clamps to clamp the wood together.

Step 5: Planer and Staining

  1. After I glued the wood together and ran it through a planer to get the first layer to be flat, Also sanded after I used the planer.
  2. I stained the wood so when I used the CNC router the wood design will show better.

Step 6: CNC Cutting, Cutting Extra Wood Off, and Planer

  1. I used our school CNC Router to cut out my wooden sign.
  2. Next I cut of an inch off each side. (I clamped an inch of each side so it would say down and not move)
  3. I used a router on the top edge so that it would not be sharp and so the it would look better.

Step 7: DONE!!!!
