Intro: Hair Gel + LED = Light

Hair gel is an excellent optical path. Bubbles create surprising tracery. Such source of illumination can be used somehow.

I was going to use glass beads in containers for LED lighting .. not now !! great idea, thanks!
cool,, where is the dropping or load resistor, or did you us 4-5 volt LEDs?
I'd like to do something similar but for a more permanent sealed lamp. Do you know if the hair gel will "go bad" or spoil over time? If so, anyone have any ideas on an alternative concoction that would last for years?
Acually i have a test tube with hair gel in it for 6 months or so, it hasnt gone off, its dried out a little when its spread thinly, but it seems to be fine,
Margerine would work(Stick in a garage for six months, no mould) unfortunately its yellow....
@markeike

Do you have any answers or solutions to your questions? I have been wondering about it as well.
A good question. I too would like to know. And if it does spoil over time, is there a more permanent alternative?

Yeah, How did you hook them up with your music? They all go to different parts, like the blue one went to the bass and the others to other parts. Howd you do that? Anyway Nice Tut! I added it to favorites and I might actually try it out sometime.
That looks amazing! How'd you hook them up to work with your music on the computer?
