Introduction: Handmade Wooden Earrings
Grinding, Sanding, & Buffing are Not Enough
March 22nd was +Rebecca Miles birthday. She needed earrings and we don't have extra $$ for gifts right now. In this video, I show you how I made these wooden earrings with minimal tools and no previous carving or "intricate wooden object" skills.

I am an experienced woodworker and want to let you and others know that the methods you used to make your earrings are dangerous. You need to be careful! So far you have been VERY lucky using those power tools in those way. Using power tools can be very dangerous, especially if you are not using them in the way that they were designed. It is a good idea never get your hand within 3 inches of a cutting blade on a power tool. An example of a near miss in your video was while you were using the dermel cutter. Your hand is very close to the blade, which I assume is spinning at thousands of revolutions per minute, the blade catches the wood and it flies out your hand. At this point you had lost control and if your free hand had moved into the blade you could have seriously cut your hand.
A safer way to cut the earrings with the dremel would have been to hold that piece of wood with one of the clamps you used later or by using a handsaw which you can pick up very cheaply.
I did like the look of your finished earrings.
