Intro: Helpful Bathroom Octopus

This project is trifunctional, not only does it brighten up the bathroom, it also holds a lot of shampoo and soap etc, and it is complimentary, to ensure a happy start to the day!

STEP 1:

This is the sort of project you can make for many different rooms of the house, just pick an appropriately helpful animal, and draw it up. Maybe a bedroom butler badger, or a big bird coat rack. In any situation they can look great, hold things, and give compliments.

The first step is the design, make sure to factor in the various heights of thing you want it to hold, and ensure it is strong enough to do so.

Add a bit of flair, and give it a nice expression, remember to leave space for the speech bubble.

STEP 2:

Next step is manufacturing, I used a garage CNC router, but this would be an easy job for a jigsaw as well. Ensure the design is optimized for you method of manufacture. If you use a hand guided method like a jigsaw, just print out the cad files and glue it to the top, make getting the right shape a breeze.

STEP 3:

Sand back any rough edges, and assemble, screws and glue work well.

STEP 4: Complimentary Bathroom Octopus

Add a few coats of paint, and a few more if it is in a wet area like the bathroom.

Put in the speech bubble and write up a good compliment, I like a good pun wherever possible.

Job done, the bathroom octopus has been a great success!

I love it! I like the idea of having a bunch of small shelves and having it shaped like an octopus is even better!
Awesome! Do you have any files for the design you used that you could share?
I don't quite understand how all the little shelves are attached. Do they have braces under them or just screwed directly into the tentacles?
Thanks! I'd be happy to share the 3D files (I'm not sure where/how though?); one thing I forgot to mention, is the eyes came out very well because the pupils seem to be always looking at you due to their holes being set back into the wood.

Yeh I just used 2x 50mm wood screws for each shelf, only light things like shampoo bottles will fit so that will be strong enough.
Awesome, it fits well to the bathroom, considering it's an aquatic creature. Very original!
