Introduction: How to Turn a PC Fan Into a USB Fan
Hi, everyone. Today I'm going to be showing you how to turn a computer fan into a USB Powered fan. It's good if you wanna learn the basic ropes of tech (like I still am) or if you have a tech-obsessed kid. This Instructable is an entry in the Fix it and Improve It and the Hands-on Learning Contest so PLEASE VOTE!!!!!!
Step 1: Getting Started
So, first you will need:
A Justin Bieber Poster (nah, just kidding)
Okay, for real now.
A computer fan (DUHHHHH!)
USB Cable
Scissors
Wire Stripper (optional)
The Fan's connector should look somewhat like the first picture,
and one of the USB cable's connectors should look like the 2nd and 3rd picture (just in case you don't know)
Step 2: Step 1
Now first, cut the connector off the fan. It should look like the picture.
Step 3: Stripping Wires
Then, strip the red and black wires. If you only have scissors, then just lightly cut the protective covering on the wire then pull it off.
Step 4: Same Thing
Now do the same thing with the USB cable. Be sure to only cut the small connector, not the one that goes in the computer.
Step 5: Connecting the Used-to-be Connectors
Lastly, twist the 2 red wires together and twist the 2 black wires together. You should put some electrical tape on the connections so they don't short each other. (Basically, don't let the red connection touch the black connection.)
Step 6: PLUG IT IN!!!!!!
Just plug it in to your PC or Mac or whatever and stay cool. Thanks, guys and PLEASE VOTE!

Great project. One problem though. My fan does not have any colors on it, which makes it a bit difficult. I'm just going to take a guess, but if it's possible, an explanation for which wires are which would be nice. Thanks!

Name your project with a more accurate title. If I am looking for instructions on how to make a USB fan like this one, I'm gonna be looking for projects titled "making a USB fan", not "hi guys"
Nice project man.

You should put a picture of your finished project as the main image.
