Introduction: Hidden Wall Safe

Small safes are a deterrent not a solution. I created an easy way to keep a safe from being found, adding an extra layer of protection

Supplies

Step 1:

Mounting:

  1. Mount a sub-panel box with dimensions larger then your safe inside a closet or other inconspicuous location.
  2. Mount safe inside boc using two-inch lag screws (follow mounting instructions for safe). For my safe, I mounted into wood 2x4s after drilling a slightly smaller hole than thew screws.

Step 2: Covering the Safe

Cover:

  1. Re-use a mother board from an old desktop or other large board from a broken machine.
  2. Cut to fit. Size to fit in the slot that held the cover inside he sub-panel using a dremel with cutting tool. (IMPORTANT: cut outside or in a well ventilated area with an appropriate respirator or other breathing mask.)

Step 3: Add Some Details

Details are everything:

  1. Check your electrical scrap box for details to reuse. 1" electrical tubing for my project sitting on top of thew box. With a magnet hot glued in the pipe on one side and a 1" hanging nail in the other
  2. Sticker, notes, printed homemade logo. What would be on the real thing
  3. A luggage lock with a homemade logo. You don't want your kids to get electrocuted and that adds one more layer of protection from people looking where they shouldn't.
