Introduction: High Pressure QEV Air Gun
Building an air gun is fun and produces an awesome air gun. No welding is required. All you need is two pipe wrenches that can handle 1 1/2 inch pipe fittings, an adjustable wrench and a bunch of fittings. This design uses a standard air compressor quick disconnect. To fire, just disconnect the fitting. A shooting video will come soon. Comment with ideas for targets. Already, we have Cardboard Box Blasting, Styrofoam Sheet Shooting and Soda Can Craziness.
Legal Disclaimer: I understand the construction and use of homemade air guns can be risky and dangerous. Only attempt this project if you know how to safely use plumbing tools. Only use the air gun in a safe location and make sure there are no persons, animals or articles of value in the range of fire. At 20 bar, this is easily deadly. If you are a minor, have a responsible adult help you build this and supervise the shooting.

Tools:
2 Pipe Wrenches, see above. 10 inch or bigger Adjustable Wrench
Parts:
ALL PIPE FITTINGS ARE THREADED STEEL.
1 1/2 inch cap
1 1/2 inch by 3/4 inch bell reducer
3/4 by 1/2 inch bushing
1/2 inch close nipple
1/2 inch QEV, SNS QE-04. A different QEV can be used. If it has a 1/2 inch outlet, ommit the 1/2 inch coupler, 3/8 inch close nipple and 1/2 inch by 3/8 inch bushing. The valve I used: It is very good quality. I tested it to 20 bar or 290.075 PSI. The 3/8 inch outlet needs adapting to fit the 1/2 inch barrel. Some others under $20 are not the black box type and less durable, as the black box is easy to repair, affordable and very durable. Those are most likely 1/2 inch outlet, but not more flow than mine.
1/2 inch by 1/4 inch bushing
1/4 inch male air compressor plug
1/2 inch by 36 inch steel pipe
Step 2: QEV Stuff
Connect the Cylinder (A) port to the tank (the 1 1/2 inch steel pipe and fittings, shown in the video). Connect the Exhaust (R) to the barrel, using adapters if required. Connect the Inlet (P) to the bushing and air compressor plug.
NOTE: ONLY USE A 1/2 INCH QEV. A SMALLER QEV WILL HAVE LOW FLOW.
