Introduction: Homemade General Tso Sauce Recipe:
"Honey! Did you get the General Tso sauce?" Lisa asked. "Oh shoot! I'm sorry honey! I completely forgot!" David said. He was so focused on getting the guys their chips and dip that he forgot that lunch was Homemade Chinese! And who's going to have things such as SOY SAUCE in their cabinet? Mostly no one!
But hey, it's not the end of the world.
Yes, I figured out and rigged a General Tso sauce recipe. And it's super cheap also!
Step 1: Requirements:
Worcestershire and Water substitutes SOY SAUCE.
Apple Juice substitutes RICE WINE.
(*All Purpose) Flour substitutes CORNSTARCH .
Rice Wine Vinegar substitute is Balsamic Vinegar.
Step 2: Measurements of Substitution:
3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce+Water.
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons Apple Juice.
1 1/2 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar.
1 tablespoon chili paste
1 1/2 teaspoons Flour.
Measurements: For every "Table Spoon" of SOY SAUCE substitutions, use 3tsp . of Worcestershire Sauce adding 1tsp . of water.
Otherwise, keep original measurements.
Step 3: Making the Sauce:
Add everything into a bowl and mix it well. Try to get rid of the flour clumps. DO NOT ADD CHILI PASTE IF IT IS RUNNY! Heat will thicken it somewhat. If you don't want to heat it, add a tad bit more flour. Otherwise, it will run off of the chicken.
If your cooking chicken at the same time, for best results, dump the sauce on the chicken.
Step 4: What I Do:
I put chicken with the sauce in the skillet, then I add the steamed vegetables. That way, everything has a twinge of flavor.
