Introduction: Homemade Stamp
For this project, all supplies where things I already had laying around the house. The stamp I made is my initials for stamping onto paintings or anything I want to mark as my own. The end product is a bit messy but would be cleaner depending on your application of the ink/paint and quality of work. Also, all materials can be switched out with real block printing or stamp making materials.
Supplies
Eraser
Exacto Knife
Pencil
Paper
Sharpie
Paint
Paintbrush
Step 1: Design
Outline your eraser and draw the design you desire in pencil. Make sure this is really layered with graphite.
Step 2: Drawing On
Place eraser on paper, making sure it lines up with the outline, and press really hard. This will transfer the graphite onto the eraser but mirrored.
Step 3:
Darken design with a sharpie, this is where the paint will be applied.
Step 4: Cutting Things Out
Carve away anything that does not have sharpie with the Exacto knife. I outlined the design with the knife first, then carved away.
Step 5: Finished!
Your stamp is done. I added paint to the stamp with a paintbrush and stamped on the back of a sketchbook to see the result. I added too much paint but liked that it looked thicker. An ink roller and ink or stamp pad would be preferable here.
