Homemade Black Powder Bomb.

Introduction: Homemade Black Powder Bomb.

With the 4th of July past some of us may have felt let down. For those of you who do feel let down or just want to blow something up, I give you.....
How to make a homemade blackpowder; firecracker, m-80, bomb.
The following instructions will teach you how to make each above listed “toys”, all of which depend on the size of the bomb you make. Remember the larger you make doesn’t necessarily mean the larger the boom. Also please note the the into image is from one of my first bombs. Since then I developed a new way which is what I am going to be showing you.

**Disclaimer** I am not responsible for anything you do with the knowledge I provide. ALWAYS error on the side of caution. If a bomb does not go off wait an adequate amount of time and douse with water. Fuse is easy to make and cheap to buy, so don’t be cheap with the fuse. Leave yourself adequate fuse to get a safe distance away.

Step 1: What You Need.

Materials:

Paper
Tape
Black Powder

Tools:

Xacto Knife
Lighter
Pliers
Funnel

Optional:

Plastic Bottle

You will notice in my video that I use two kinds of tape. The blue tape is painters tape, I have found this to be one of the bests tapes for creating these fireworks.

Step 2: Building =)

First I must apologize for the lack of pictures building. Since I was working with explosive material I felt that going back and fourth between said material and electronics, keyword electro, could be hazardous.

That being said there is a video, which I encourage you to watch...

Cut a piece of paper to roughly 4 inches wide by 11 inches long. I use a standard piece of printer paper and just rip it down the center. Using your xacto knife roll a tube with your paper. Tape each end of the roll tightly. If your tube is wide, place a piece of tape in the center. Slide your tube off of the xacto knife. Using your pliers pinch the tube 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the bottom. Using this pinch fold the flap over tightly. Tape this flap down. Using whatever means necessary poke a hole in the center of your tube on an angle downward from the open end of the tube. the angle is to prevent black powder from falling through the hole while you are pouring it in. Using your funnel fill your tube up to 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the top. Pinch your tube, fold, and tape. Shove your wick into the hole a good inch. Using your tape, wrap your entire tube tightly.

Optional:

For an added boom drill a small hole in the cap of a plastic bottle. Slide your fuse through that and tape secure. Think of the bottle as a secondary explosion. The gasses from the first explosion will expand the bottle also causing it to explode. This happens so fast that the two explosions "stack" and create a louder boom.

A reminder:

Some rules of thumb you should know about lighting your own fireworks.

1) Safety fuse. Fuse is cheap, so don't you be cheap. Make or cut yourself enough for you to get a good distance away and then some. If your knowledgable and capable electronic ignition do that.
2) If the firework doesn't blow, wait 5 min then approach cautiously. I set mine off with a small cement bunker on one side. I approach this side.
3) Don't be stupid.
