Kurloz Prom Tux -Homestuck/ Skeleton Sport's Coat

Do you love the webcomic Homestuck? My son does, so when he asked me to help him sew up a Kurloz prom tux, I said "no problem!" Here's how I did it :

Step 1: Step 1, Find a Sport's Coat

Step 1: Find a sport's coat that fits you or whomever you are making the costume for. We found ours at a thrift shop!

Step 2: Step 2: Gather Materials

Step 2: Gather all materials you'll need. Which are:
•Scissors
•Glue or Glue stick
•Thick white fabric for bone cutouts
•Stencil or picture of a skeleton
•Sewing machine or needle & thread
•Self healing mat (not necessary, but convenient!)
•Of course your sport's or tux coat

Step 3: Step 3: Cut Out Bones

Step 3: Cut Out Bones; This is where a stencil or picture of a skeleton comes in handy. I printed a picture of a skeleton I found online and used it as a reference for cutting out the bones. You can print bones the size you would like, glue it to your white fabric, and then cut out the bones, using the printed bones as a stencil. I just eyeballed it ;-)

Step 4: Step 4: Glue Fabric Bones to Sport's Coat/Tux

Step 4: Glue Fabric Bones to Sport's Coat. Apply glue stick to the back of the bones you cut out of the thick white fabric. Then just stick the bones to the sport's coat/tux and allow enough time to dry. You can also use pins if you prefer.

Step 5: Step 5: Sew the Bones Onto the Sport's Coat/Tux

Step 5: Sew the Bones onto the Sport's Coat/Tux. This is where your sewing machine comes in handy! I basted the bones in place using a 3.5 stitch length and regular white cotton thread and it came out great! You can use whatever stitch length and thread combo you're comfortable with or use a needle and thread. Easy peasy!

Step 6: Final Fitting. Try the sport's coat/tux on your little troll and make sure it fits!

Step 7: Finalize the Details of your Costume. Face paint and some hand made fire horns completed the look! This is a pretty versatile costume and you can put any spin you'd like on it! Whether you have a big or little troll or skeleton, your kiddo will look fab for that Halloween Party or Comicon! Have fun and stay safe!
