Intro: Hot Beer With Honey and Ginger to Remedy Your Flu or Cold

So, I managed to cought a flu in the middle... of the end of the Summer. And it means it is time for my favourite remedy that I invented myself - A HOT BEER WITH HONEY AND OTHER OPTIONAL STUFF!!

Ok, to be onest, I have no idea if it in fact helps to deal with flu or cold, so take actual medication and don't blame me if your cataracta won't go away, or your long lost limbs won't regenerate after digesting this beverage, because I'm not a doctor and not claming anithing. But, wether it's placebo or real effect, it realy makes me feel better, brings strenght back, makes me feel comfy inside and very sweaty outside, relaxete and helps to get asleep.

STEP 1: Ingredients

Here's the list of ingredients and rough propostions:

Beer - 0,5L;

Honey - 4-5 Table spoons;

Ginger - 1 Table spoon;

Thyme - Some amount;

So, of course, the main ingredients are beer and honey. I'm using light unfiltered beer, and a honey from the kitchen. I took 5 spoons, and the resulting beverage was pretty sweet, which is what I was aiming for. I recomend to taste it whlile adding the honey to make sure it complements yours desires. Other ingredients are optional and depend on your taste. I used about 1 table spoon of grated ginger and some amount of fresh thyme (baecause I have some growing on the yard). Probably I would also add some lemon, If I thought of it before I went to the market for buyng ginger.

STEP 2: Warming Up Beer

I'm planning to brew the thing on my rocket stove in a pot, because why not, so I'm pouring the beer and starting to heet it.

STEP 3: Adding Ingredients

While the beer is warming I'm adding the rest of the ingredients and stirring till the beer gets hot enough. It's like making maulled wine, you want it to get hot enough but not let it boil.

STEP 4: Strain

When you feel it's redy, strain the beverage into your favourite drinking vessel and enjoy it while it still hot. Mine tasted good.

This is it for now, thank you for your attention and have a nice nose air circulation.

Not sure if you invented it as my grandmother used to give it to us all.

She got best draft from the pub and added ginger (loads) and heated it without boiling it, adding sugar for sweetness. Sip while warm with a couple of aspirins

Note: Wear something absorbent as you will sweat like mad and feel weak he next day.

Uhm... I'd still like to think that I invented it since I've never heard of it before. But, at the same time, I'm not claming that it was me who invented it first. Let's just say that geniuses think similar... and, sometimes, sweat alot...

done this for years...works but you'll sweat everywhere. also try slicing an onion, cover in sugar, leave overnight and then drink the syrup...brill cough medecine

I tryed once to bake onions with shugar similarily as it done with apples. It was a bad idea.
How does onion syrup taste?

Add sugar to sweeten and food flavourings .......still tastes of onion though

A nurse told us they made this in the hospital. Slice an onion and cover it in sugar. The juice drawn out overnight she used to colour with food colouring and add flavouring. Tried it and it really cuts through a cough.

I enjoy the 'some amount' of thyme you put into it

It's always better than "indefinite amount";) Thanks.
