How to Make the Skyrocket Paper Airplane

Fast, long range and simple, the Skyrocket is an flying wing paper airplane that anyone can make and pilot.

Step 1: Materials

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Tape
Scissors

Optional:
Pencil
Ruler

Step 2: Width and Corner Folding

Begin making your Skyrocket by folding it in half along its width. Once you have the paper halved, fold down the corner. Repeat on the other side.

Step 3: Refold the Corner Folds

Open your previous folds up and then pull the corners to the established crease.

Step 4: Corner and Counterweight Folding

Fold the paper of the corner folds you just worked on in again. Once this is done, pull the tip of the nose down to the trailing edge. Once you've made the crease, fold the tip of the nose to this crease. At this point, you can now fold the paper of the now blunt nose over itself. Then repeat. When you are done with this step, you have completed your counterweight.

Step 5: Make Your Fins

Fold your airplane up in half along its center crease. About an inch in from the trailing edge, use your scissors to make a cut reaching roughly 1 inch into the wing. The cut should be swept towards the counterweight. Once you've made these cuts, fold the fins up. The trailing edges of the fin should align with that of the wing.

Step 6: Taping

Apply tape to your Skyrocket along the center back of the counterweight.

Step 7: Flight

Like the Skystreak and Skycruiser before it, the Skyrocket is an easy-to-fly flying wing. Having swept wingtips, the Skyrocket is less prone to damage when impacting the ground wingtip-first. Enjoy!
