Introduction: How to Put Music Onto a Stick Type MP3 Player

Hello, this is my very FIRST instructable! Woo Hoo. So here goes...

I will try to teach you how to put music onto a stick type MP3 player.

ENJOY!

Step 1: Step One

Step One, named for it's position in the steps, goes like this...

>> Make sure you have a MP3 player, if not this instructable will be worthless...

>> Pick up your MP3 player and come with me to step two...

Step 2: Step Two

Step Two, like Step One, is named for it's position in the steps...

>> So, assuming that you DO have a MP3 player (or else, why would you have followed me here to step two...?), now remove the cover which covers the male USB port...

>> Like so...

>> On to step three!

Step 3: Step Three

Step Three... you know the drill...

>> Now, having removed the cover from the male USB port, insert the male USB port into your computer's female USB port (please note: you must also have a computer to do this...), or into a USB hub, as shown here...

>> Onward to step four!

Step 4: Step Four

Step Four... yep...

>> Assuming that you are running Windows XP (sp2), a dialog screen, very similar to the one below, should appear on your computer monitor...

>> Select "open folder to view files"

>> step five is just around the bend... I can't wait!

Step 5: Step Five

Step Five... aiiiiiight....

>> Having selected "open folder to view files" you should now be greeted by a screen looking something like this. If there is no music on your MP3 player alread, then there will be nothing in the screen, but if there IS something on your MP3 player, then it will look something like the picture below...

>> Leave this screen open and follow me to step six...

Step 6: Step Six

Step Six... whatever...

>> Now, go to "My Music", or wherever you keep your music on your computer...like so...

>> Get ready for step seven!

Step 7: Step Seven

Step Seven... oh yeah...

>> Using the mouse (pointing device) and holding control (Ctrl), left click (or right click if you are using a left-handed mouse) on each track that you wish to transfer to your MP3 player...

>> Once all the tracks that you wish to transfer are highlighted, join me at step eight...

Step 8: Step Eight

Step Eight... Fool...

>> Having highlighted the wanted tracks, now release control (Ctrl) and right click (or left click for a left-handed mouse) on the highlighted tracks, to reveal a drop-down menu, upon that menu select "copy"...

>> Then, return to the folder of your MP3 player, right click (or left click, for a left-handed mouse) inside the folder, to open a drop-down menu, and select "paste"...

>> Now off we go to step nine!

Step 9: Step Nine

Step Nine... The ninth step...

>> Now you must wait for your music to transfer to your MP3 player... like so...

>> Onwards to step ten!

Step 10: Step Ten

Step Ten... God bless the Metric System...

>> This may really take some time if you are transfering a lot of songs, especially if you do not have USB 2.0 ports on your computer...

>> Please resist the urge to smash your computer with a guitar...

>> step eleven surely must follow...

Step 11: Step Eleven

Step Eleven... The eleventh step...

>> Finally, your music will be transfered, but that's not the end of my story...

>> Read on to step twelve...

Step 12: Step Twelve

Step Twelve... God I could use a drink...

>> Now, to remove your MP3 player, go into "My Computer" and right click (or left click, you lefties) it, from the drop-down menu select "eject". Your MP3 player should disappear...

>> It is now safe to remove your MP3 player from the USB port...

>> And don't forget to put the USB port cover back on your MP3 player...
