Intro: How to Throw Knives

In this instructables I will be showing you how to throw throwing knives
Tip: Use a bright colored nail polish or glue a piece of paper on to the end of your throwing knife so you don't lose them.

STEP 1: First Throwing Technique

Place the throwing knife in between your index finger and thumb as shown it in the picture.
You're going to want to throw it at an arch so the blade flips and you will have a better chance of hitting the target.

Once you get comfortable with this technique you can throw it straight but you'll have to throw it hard.

STEP 2: Throwing Technique 2

Hold the knife in between the tips of your index finger and thumb similar to throwing technique number 1.
Throw it at an arch like like the last one except make the face of the blade flip.

STEP 3: Throwing Technique 3

Hold the knife so the blade is parallel to to your first and second knuckle.
Throwing at an arch so the blade flips.
Once you get good you can throw it harder straight.

STEP 4: Be Safe and Enjoy!

Before you throw knives learn the safety. Enjoy!

As an adult you should have enough common sense to apply "safety" without a step by step guide or instruction manual. And as far as children go if you don't trust your kid to consult you or discuss this in some manner before attempting to do this then it's pretty obvious that they have a lack of respect in which you should already be aware of this and should be tracking there Internet use. Safety is a tool and only works if the individual is willing to use it don't try to blame someone else for your responsibilities
I mean seriously why did you think I was an adult with kids? it says I'm 15 in my bio
I'm not even an adult. I was 14 when I made this. And if you don't like it why don't you make a tutorial on safety

I hope that this comment isn't taken as "not nice" but for an entry in the "Safety Challenge" contest that is truly inherently dangerous, extremely short shrift is given to safety. In fact, it is only your admonition to "learn the safety" where safety is mentioned, but not explained. Do you have an additional Instructable where this can be learned?

Throwing knives aren't dangerous for the one throwing them. They aren't even sharp (in most cases).

When there are people around you have to be very cautious. Obviously you must not throw knives in direction where there are people in 45° cone of your target. Thing many don't know is that you aren't safe behind thrower - he or she might accidentally release knife too soon and hit someone behind his/her back (go ahead, laugh but I've seen that way too many times with novices)

And do NOT throw knives at climbing wall. Find a tree or something. One of many reasons is that you could hit one of hooks? things you grab for... whatever they are called and dameg them and possibly knife as well.

Zjawesome, please include some safety tips.

It is a children's climbing wall that is like 3 feet and no longer in use so it doesn't mater is I damage it. The only reason I do that though is because I don't have any big enough trees to throw then at.

might I make a suggestion im sure your very good at this but you should probably remove the faux rocks

do you know any no-spin throws? i feel like they would be an integral part of knife throwing, even if they are only mentioned in passing. you also make no mention of the fact that the grips you are showing us need to be thrown from certain distances almost to the inch, nor of how to actually throw the knife. if you were to make another guide, i would include no-spin throws, and the fact that in order for the knife to stick, it must be thrown from a distance at which it will impact with the point forwards. overall though, nice guide and good luck.
