STEP 1: First Throwing Technique
Place the throwing knife in between your index finger and thumb as shown it in the picture.
You're going to want to throw it at an arch so the blade flips and you will have a better chance of hitting the target.
Once you get comfortable with this technique you can throw it straight but you'll have to throw it hard.

I hope that this comment isn't taken as "not nice" but for an entry in the "Safety Challenge" contest that is truly inherently dangerous, extremely short shrift is given to safety. In fact, it is only your admonition to "learn the safety" where safety is mentioned, but not explained. Do you have an additional Instructable where this can be learned?

Throwing knives aren't dangerous for the one throwing them. They aren't even sharp (in most cases).
When there are people around you have to be very cautious. Obviously you must not throw knives in direction where there are people in 45° cone of your target. Thing many don't know is that you aren't safe behind thrower - he or she might accidentally release knife too soon and hit someone behind his/her back (go ahead, laugh but I've seen that way too many times with novices)
And do NOT throw knives at climbing wall. Find a tree or something. One of many reasons is that you could hit one of hooks? things you grab for... whatever they are called and dameg them and possibly knife as well.
Zjawesome, please include some safety tips.

do you know any no-spin throws? i feel like they would be an integral part of knife throwing, even if they are only mentioned in passing. you also make no mention of the fact that the grips you are showing us need to be thrown from certain distances almost to the inch, nor of how to actually throw the knife. if you were to make another guide, i would include no-spin throws, and the fact that in order for the knife to stick, it must be thrown from a distance at which it will impact with the point forwards. overall though, nice guide and good luck.
