Building Bee Box

In this instructable, I will explain how to build a simple bee box. Building a bee box is a great way to help increase biodiversity and also save our pollinators, bees, who play an important role in the ecosystem. You can use this bee box in your garden to attract bees in order to pollinate your flowers and plants. It is important to research before building a bee box so you can understand the different parts of the bee box and their purpose.

Warning; If you would like to paint your bee box make sure to paint only the external and before painting research about the paint you will use to make sure that it will not harm the bees.

Step 1: Measurement

It is crucial to measure all parts before any cutting. Also, it is important to be very precise with measurement in order to build a successful bee box.

Step 2: Cutting

Cut 4 pieces with dimensions of 18x12 inches.

Cut 2 pieces with dimensions of 12x12 inches.

Cut 2 pieces with dimensions of 12x9 inches.

Cut 4 pieces with dimensions of 1x1 inches.

Cut 3 pieces with dimensions of 16x1 inches.

Cut 2 pieces with dimensions of 10x1 inches.

Cut a 6x8 piece from the center of one of the 18x12 inches piece.

Place the 6x8 Plexiglas in the center of the rectangle with the whole.

Step 3: Connecting the Parts Together

Using glue or nail connect only 3 pieces with 18x12 inches to

make the bottom, front, and back side of the box.

Using glue or nail connect the 3 16x1 pieces to the bottom part of the box with each piece being 2 inches away from each other.

Using glue or nail connect the 2 10x1 pieces one to the 12x12 piece and one to the other 12x12 piece with each piece being 2 inches going down from the top.

Using glue or nail connect the 2 pieces with dimensions of 12x12 to make the left and right side of the box.

Step 4: Frames

Build 2 frames with dimensions of 16x8 and place them between the provided spaces on the bottom part of the box. Also, make sure that both frames are hanging on the left and right side of the box. This way the frames are held in place and are easy to remove out of the box and then put it back inside the box.

Step 5: Add the Top Piece

Cut 1 inch vertically from the Plexiglas in order to make a space for bees entrance inside the box.

Now you can add a handle to the top part (18x12 piece) and connect it using either nail or glue to the top of the box.
