Introduction: How to Build a Computer
Why might you want to build your own computer? What are the benefits?
You might want to because it's a good thing to practice being in the program of IT. You'll need to know what all the parts of a computer are and what they do in order to troubleshoot any problems that might occur. You can also customize the computer into anything of you liking.
Step 1: Obtain Parts of Computer
You will need to set up all of your materials before you can begin your computer build. You will also need to grab a static mat and place it on the flat surface you are working on.
Step 2: Opening the Case
Take the case out of its box. Open the sides of the case so that you can add parts to it. At this point there should be nothing in the case.
Step 3: Assembling Motherboard: CPU
The first part to go into the is the Computer Processor Unit (CPU). This is a very delicate part of the computer. You must make sure it is put in correctly otherwise it can damage the processor permanently. Tip: Make sure all of the pins are NOT bent. They need to be straight to fit into the socket.
Step 4: Assembling Motherboard: CPU Fan
The next part is the CPU fan. This part goes directly above the CPU. This component cools down the CPU so it doesn't overheat and get damaged. In order to install the fan you must make sure it fits easy over the CPU. After that, you tighten down the fan with the latches on the side.
Step 5: Assembling Motherboard: RAM & Graphics Card
The RAM and Graphics Card is put into the motherboard the same way. Both are individual chips that can be installed by pushing them into the ports they belong to. The Graphics card goes into the AGP slot, and the RAM goes into the memory slots.
Step 6: Adding Hardware to Case: Motherboard
In order to add the Motherboard to the case you need to place it right above screws that you should have added to the case. The motherboard can then be screwed into place with additional screws.
Step 7: Adding Hardware to Case: Hard Drive
The hard drive should slide into its slot without any problems. Just make sure it is secure and then use the screw at the top to hold it in place.
Step 8: Adding Hardware to Case: Power Supply
The power supply has a specific spot in the case. Once you locate this spot you can place the power supply there and screw it in. After this you need to plug in the pins to their corresponding sections.

Not bad! You have some great pictures to go along with the build. It might have been nice to include some of the pictures from our system (since thats what a student next semester will be using). Also I didnt see anything about ESD.
