Introduction: How to Build an Electromagnetic Generator
A simple way to build an electromagnetic generator!
Supplies
Materials: cardboard, bottle cap, straw, propeller, motor, led light, glue
Tools: pencil, ruler, scissors, xacto knife, glue gun
Step 1: Draw Sides for the "windmill" on Cardboard
Make them all even, with smaller tops than bottoms. Use a ruler to help. Create and add your own cut outs!
Step 2: Cut Out Pieces
The xacto knife is helpful for the cut outs. Save a piece for the base!
Step 3: Create the Windmill Stand
Glue each piece to the base and to each other (I used hot glue). Make sure they are touching on all sides!
Step 4: Glue on the Top
Find a piece from the scraps that will fit on top of the stand. Shape it into a square and glue it on.
Step 5: Glue on Base for Light Stand
Any type of small plastic bottle cap will do.
Step 6: Gather Pieces for Light Stand
Look trough the scras from the cut outs. Create 4 identical pieces, along with one square piece.
Step 7: Glue Together the Stand
Using the glue gun, glue the short side of the pieces to the square. Make sure the sides of the pieces touch.
Step 8: Glue Light Stand On
Glue the light stand onto the top of the bottle cap, alonging room for the edge to hang over.
Step 9: Insert LED Light
Create a small hole in the center of the square backing. Insert the light into the whole, with the metal sticking out the back.
Step 10: Glue Straw Onto Motor
Cut a small piece of the straw off. Glue it to the axle of the motor, with extra hanging off.
Step 11: Add the Propellor
Glue the propellor to the opposite end of the straw.
Step 12: Glue the Motor on
Glue the large part of the motor to the cardboard, with the fan towards the front.
Step 13: Connect the Wires
Create a hook with the metal extending out of the wire. DO the same with the LED. Make hook each write a different leg of the LED. Make sure the legs do not touch.
