Introduction: How to Change the Hard Drive in a PS4

Hello,

My name is Jekobe Hughes. I am a robotics, electronics student at Lake Area Technical Institute. I am going to show you something all gamers need to know, how to change your hard drive in your PlayStation. All you will need is your PlayStation and a Phillips screw driver. Studies show that if you do not have enough space on your hard drive, your PlayStation will start to perform slower.

Step 1: How to Take Off the PlayStation Cover

First what I will do is take off the glossy cover on the left side of the PS4. This will reveal the hard drive and circuit board.

Step 2: Step 2: Unscrew the Hard Drive

The hard drive will be screwed into a pocket on the front side of the PS4. I will take a Philips screwdriver and unscrew the first lock screw, and then the four screws holding it in place. Be very careful to not strip the screws, because finding replacements could be a hassle.

Step 3: Step 3: Pulling the Hard Drive Out

Next, after the sleeve is unscrewed, pull out the hard drive from its sleeve.

Step 4: Step 4: Inserting the New Hard Drive

Finally, I will insert and screw the hard drive back in just the way I took it out and check to make sure that it is snug and that everything looks good and clean. The hard drive will not go into the PS4 if it is not orientated the right way. It is pretty fool proof!

Step 5: Step 5: Putting the Cover Back On

I will then put the cover back onto the PlayStation and start playing!
