Introduction: How to Cook a McDonalds Big Mac (But Better)
This recipe is easy to make at home and you'll be surprised how tasty it is compared to a McDonalds Big Mac.
One of the best elements is the Big Mac sauces, you’ll find the recipe in the video and it tastes amazing!
Step 1: Setup Either a Mincer or Food Processor With the Cutting Blades.
Add diced beef chuck
Diced bacon
Season with salt and pepper
I can’t stress enough how much better your burger will be if you make them from scratch.
Step 2: Pulse the Food Processor for a Start to Cut the Larger Pieces.
Continue to pulse under the meat it minced, if you’re in the US minced meat is called ground.
I like my burgers to have a fat ratio of 70% meat to 30% fat, this will give you juicy, tender burgers.
Step 3: Now the Beef Is Minced, Take a Hand Full and Mould Them Into Patties.
These are thick but just before placing them on the grill I will flatten them out some more
Step 4: Next We Are Going to Make the Big Mac Sauce!
In a bowl add:
½ cup of whole egg mayonnaise
1 Tbsp sweet relish
½ Tbsp American mustard
½ Tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp sweet paprika
Mix together and set aside.
Step 5: Next Dice One Onion.
Then slice a hand full of crisp iceberg lettuce into strips.
Cook your bun into thirds.
Step 6: Setup Your BBQ for Direct Cooking
Step 7: Once the BBQ Is Nice and Hot Place Your Burgers on the Grill.
We are
going to cook these burgers for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
Flip the burgers, the first side now has a nice sear.
Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, also don’t forget to toast the bun.
Step 8: Layout the Bottom and Middle Slices of the Bun.
Spoon on a layer of our Big Mac sauce.
Follow with a layer of the diced onions
Then a layer of the iceberg lettuce.
On the middle bun, add a layer of pickles.
On the bottom layer a slice of America cheese.
Finally, place your burgers on each bun.

Would you provide more info on the relish you used in the video? Brand name or ingredients? The relish looked red in your video. The sweet relish that comes to my mind is green.

Quite tasty! I went with a single patty instead of the traditional two on a BM. Still pretty tremendous.

My wife and I have been discussing making our own patties for a while, your Instructable made it happen, thank you!
We are actually on it as I am typing, but we cannot find the ratio of beef/bacon in your text, only 70/30 meat/fat. Could you add this important info?

I'm a Big Mac fan, but the bacon and grilling make it much tastier! THX!!

I love it. Now a days In Canada we are so scared of fat 30% is considered obscene,I don't think you can even buy it made in stores. Adding bacon is brilliant, I see bacon taking it to a new level.
"It's all in the sauce" someone once said. I must say this sauce is as good as any but it's a matter of taste and we are free to mix it up.
I grew up on fat ground beef, it browns the patty well in a pan and the drippings are to die for. I'm pushing sixty, 5'9 and weigh 165 so it can't be that bad.

Big Mac Sauce is made with Dill Relish, not Sweet as mentioned. I only add this because I'd think one would want their home made masterpiece burger to taste as closely to the real McCoy as possible. Try it, you'll see a marked difference.

KUDOS. Great pictures, video and instructions. Thousand Island dressing is as close to McDonald's Special Sauce.

Looks amazing, depending on UK weather we are looking to have BBQ mid week and will try these for sure. What bread rolls did you use?

Looks good. We can now buy the Big Mac sauce here in Canada so that would save a step.
