Introduction: How to Create a Food Advertisement

This tutorial will show you how to create an advertisement of your own inspired by and food establishment that you wish using the magic wand tool and adjustment layers.

Step 1: Insert Image

Find an image of the type of food you want to use then upload it to Photopea. Personally, I like to use burgers as they are stapled foods for advertisements but that is up to you. To upload the image you can either find one on google and drag and drop it into the tab or you can use the gallery in Photopea which is the icon on the right side of the screen that looks like an image.

Step 2: Position Image

Once you get the image that you want make sure to position it into the center of the space as this image will be the centerpiece for the advertisement. To do this select the magic wand tool on the left side of the screen and use the tool to select the full image. White background on an image makes using this tool much easier so it is recommended to have a white background for the image. Then select the move tool on the left side which is above the magic wand tool. This will allow you to move and position the image where you want.

Step 3: Add Background to Advertisement

An advertisement with a white background can be considered boring to consumers so we need to add a background to the image. To do this you need to have your background layer selected, once it's selected go to the layer tab, select new fill layer, and finally select color fill, and there you can choose the color for the background. Once you have chosen the color you want to select ok and the background will change to that color. I chose the color black as it helps make the image more noticeable.

Step 4: Add Hue/Saturation Effect

Now that we have the background and the image in place we are going to make the centerpiece pop. To do this we are going to add a hue/saturation effect. To add the effect select the layer with the item, go to the images tab, select adjustments, and finally change the hue/ saturation. I made mine somewhat brighter to continue making the picture stand out more.

Step 5: Restaurant Name/Raster Mask

Now that the burger is done we are going to add the restaurant name to the page as on every advertisement the name is shown. To do this we are going to find the restaurant name on google and take an image. Once we get the image we will use a raster mask to separate the picture from the background to keep it clean. To get the raster mask go to the layer tab and scroll down to raster mask.

Step 6: Add Written Details to Item

Finally to finish off the advertisement we are going to use the text box tool and type the details of the item like common advertisements would have. To do this go to the left side of the screen and choose the text box tool. Once selected move your mouse icon to wherever on the screen you want the text to go and click. I kept my writing basic on the description but you can add as much as you want. Make sure that the color of the text isn't the same as the background or you won't be able to see the text
