How to Create a Glitter or Sparkle Effect With Alcohol Markers ✨

Make your coloring pages sparkle without the mess of real glitter! In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to simulate a glitter effect using just your alcohol markers, a white gel pen, and a little technique. This is a perfect trick for adult coloring books, handmade cards, or illustrations that need a magical touch.

Step 1: Choose Your Colors

Choose 4 or 5 colors from the same color family (ex: pink) going from lightest to darkest shade.

Step 2: Color the Base and Star Dotting

Color the whole are with your lightest shade of alcohol marker. Start Dotting all over the are with your second lightest shade. Make small and large dots.

Step 3: Add Next Shade of Dotting

Add dots of small and large size in your 3rd darkest shade of alcohol marker. Try to put the dots in between the dots that are already present.

Step 4: Add Dots in 4th Shade

Keep adding small and large dots in your 4th darkest shade. Continue on with the 5th darkest shade if you have chosen one.

Step 5: Add White Dots With Gel Pen

Add small and large white dots all over the area using your white gel pen.

Step 6: Make Sparkles

Find a few larger white dots, and drag your white gel pen through it making star shaped lines from the center. Make the white dot in the center of the sparkle larger after you add the lines. Add as few or as many sparkles as you like.
