Introduction: How to Encrypt Your Sensitive Data for Free

This instructable will provide a step by step guide towards the process of full hard drive encryption. What will you need…

Step 1: Download the Software

In the first step you will need to download a copy of the latest version of Data Protecto from: http://www.dataprotecto.com/

Step 2: Creation of the Vault

Then to start encrypting your information, first create a vault and to do this, go to ‘Encrypt Data’ option and click ‘Add Vault’ button on the top menu. This option will create an encrypted vault to store your files and folders.

Step 3: Add Vault

After you have clicked the ‘Add Vault’ button, the vault creation wizard will start. It will ask you to enter your desired vault name and path.

Step 4: Enter Desired Password

In this step, you will now have to enter a password for the vault created. You will need to enter password in the ‘set vault password field’. Make sure to enter a unique, strong and easy to remember to password.

Step 5: Start the Process

After you have set your password, click ‘Next’ to continue to step 3.

After this, the actual Vault creation process will start. While your Vault is being created, the wizard will display the vault name, vault path, size and will give you the option to open the vault after its creation.

Step 6: Open the Created Vault

Once the wizard is finished, the newly formed vault will automatically open. The default drive on which the Vault will mount o will be Z:/

Step 7: Add Important Data

You are all done now, and can transfer/add your all of your important files and folders in this encrypted vault to secure your data from all kinds of unauthorized access and cyber attacks.
