How to Fix Un-fixable Headphones

Cats: So adorable, but also SO NAUGHTY. I have two, and they eat any cord lying around. One day a left my headphones lying out . . . and . . . my cats ate the cord. It was so broken only one side worked, so I taped up the other side so it wasn't exposed, then they became my emergency (I can't find any others) headphones. I didn't use them for a year or two, then I purchased Sugru and started to fix things. I finally remembered these headphones with the broken cord. I then proceeded to "fix" them. Note, this only fixes headphones with very small cuts or only one part of the split part cut.

Step 1: Gather Material

You just need Sugru and your headphones.

Step 2: Remove Tape

If you used electrical tape or anything else on your headphones, remove it.

Step 3: Fix It! the Headphone Jack

To fix the part that plugs into the headphone jack, put a little bit of Sugru on the broken part. Put it around the the whole cord, and smooth it out.

Step 4: Fix It! the Cord

To fix the lightly bitten cord, put a little bit of Sugru on the broken part. Put it around the the whole cord, and smooth it out. (not shown)

To fix the un-fixable cord, cut the piece out (it must be where there is two cords) from both sides. Cover the headphone side with a little nub, then put another little nub on the cut cord on the other side of the cord. Smoothe it out over the cut edge, then add more to cover the whole section

Step 5: Let It Dry

Let it dry for at least 24 hours, then use it! It makes it so you do not have exposed wires flopping around.
