Introduction: How to Fold an Origami Flower / Lily
Hi there, this is my version...well one of my book's version of an origami flower, I don't actually know what it's suppose to be but it looks like a lilly to me.
I think i"ve seen someone else make one of these but in slightly different steps and I have added a stem to mine and folded the petals.
Sorry about the bad editing
oh and if you get stuck, give me a shout.
Step 1: Getting Started
Right, the good thing about this is that its pretty straight forward, nothing hanky panky.
-->Your hands
-->A4 paper..................................or any old rectangular paper
-->Scissors or Ruler..................to cut the paper
-->Pen...........................................something to roll with
Step 2: Making the Square
Most origami requires a square piece of paper and this is none the less.
Fold the A4 paper as shown to outline a square and cut away.
At this point, you can either use a ruler like me, your hands or scissors to cut along the line.
Note. Don't throw the other piece away as we'll need to later on for the stem.
Step 3: Making the Base
-Folder the square paper diagonally (the same fold you used to outline the square)
-And fold again vertically.
-Next is a bit tricky, use your left thumb to open the flap and flatten as shown. Bring A to B
-Turn it over
-Do the same on this side, however using your right thumb this time.
-You should end up with something like in the picture
Note. Make sure the folders are correctly executed otherwise it you'll make it difficult for yourself later on
Step 4: Making the Base 2
Okay this one is kinda hard to explain so i'll try and explain it with pictures instead
-You'll need to do this 4 times in total. Two at the front, and two when you turn it over.
-Put your right finger on the centre crease and using your thumbs open up the flap and flatten
-Pull it to one side and do the same on the over side
-Pull it back as well
-Turn it over and do the same on the over side.
Note. You should end up with something like in the picture
Step 5: Making the "inside"
Remember, the end result is like a upside down square pyramid which has 4 sides so whatever you do to one side, you have to do with the other 3.
-Flip the left front side right and flip the right back side left (look at the picture)
*Fold the top side to the middle, crease then open back up
*Fold it in half Vertically to make another crease and open back up
Now look at the picture to use the creases to fold the paper
-Once done, fold the flap upwards
-Turn it over and do the same on the other side
Now, you need to do it to the other 2 sides
-So again, bring the left front big flap right and the right back big flap left
-Next, make the creases again and do the same...
-Now AGAIN left front big flap right and the right back big flap left which mean you'll end up with something like the last picture here
Step 6: Alomost There
Right, now looking dashing as it is..
-Fold the bottom edges to the centre like so and do it 4 times (with the other 4 fours sides)
-After doing so, pull to top flaps (Leaf) down and repeat 4 times again
Gently Open up and Long and Behold! there's your flower!
Step 7: Adding the Finishing Touches
To make it more realistic, we need to make the petals curly and to add a stem.
-Using your pen or whatever, roll the petals over and around your pen and release
Remember that other piece of paper that you cut away to make the square, now you gonna need it.
-Use the pen or whatever you used, poke a tiny hole at the bottom of the flower
-Using your fingers, roll the paper diagonally, tightly as possible, use sticky tape to patch it up or simply do what i do and bend it off to stop it from unrevealing.
-Push the stem down and through the follower and hey Presto...
...there's your mother's day gift, romantic gesture, sorry present etc.
Please leave a comment so i can get feedback...
...not nasty ones though jks.. thanks again for taking the time to follow.

That fold from point A to B, the one you said was a bit tricky to explain..I think that one is called the "Petal fold". I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what it's called, hope I could help💘

Yay! I made it after a tedious 15 minutes... it's complicated, but the finished product is very pretty, so it's totally worth it! Thanks~

Using the pictures it is fairly straight forward, except for the part where mine is open like the predators mouth... but that should disappear with experiencei think

lol...the least you could do is actually try

Hmm, I'm trying and I still had a bit of trouble with this step. I don't think it's explained as clearly as it could be. I had to peek at the next step to see what the inside folds were supposed to look like, and I think I've got it, but I don't think I got there in quite the same way as the instructions say. :|

wow. take point A to point B. its not that hard. you obviously have never done origami before

If I was already an origami expert, why would I need origami instructions?
Reply 12 years ago on Step 3
oh idk maybe u dont know how to do this 1 yet?unbelievable....

OK, so if we agree that the people reading this instructable don't know how to do this one already, isn't it a good idea to make the instructions clear enough that people who don't know how to do the steps... can learn to do them? Lol. Obviously, noodles doesn't OWE anybody that, this is his party. But there's no need to poop on everybody giving C&C on his guide. Believe it or not, origami isn't a core life skill, so there's no shame in not being an expert.

hey sorry guys, haven't been on for a while, okay this step is tricky but once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy.
put your finger on the right side of crease B.
use your left hand to grab corner A and bring it towards B,
making sure that it flattens "correctly"
if you are still stuck let me know i can try and make a youtube video of this!!

And by the way, it's actually not "point A to point B". There are four folds that make up this step. Point A to point B is not where I got stuck, and I doubt it's where the other posters got stuck either.

Hey just wanted to say I had a go at this today and it went really well, thanks for putting up the guide. I was specifically looking for a good flower to do with one sheet of paper and this was perfect.
I've only made the basic Crane before. I think there's an easier way (just in my opinion) to make the square base to start with.

I used green paper for the stem and it looks really good! But just following on from what that other chap said, the "hole in the flower for the stem" bit is a bit ambiguous for stupid people like me.. still really nice flower though, thanks a lot =]

this is relatively easy flower, because it has no paper-twists like most roses
i'm already making a bunch for my gf, along with
