When I put the OptiFine file in the mods folder, and I start Minecraft using the Forge profile, I get an error saying that OptiFine isn't supported. Because of this, it doesn't work. Does someone know how to solve this?

I've a solution. You must have installed the same Version of Forge like Optifine and just put the .jar file from Optifine (the downloaded file) in the Mods folder. I know your question is 2 years ago, but maybe you still need it :)

I've used the newest version of Optifine and Forge. Both were 1.16.5. I haven't tried it with 1.17

This turned out great! Thanks. I was wondering how to do this but now it works! I can finally make something like realistic minecraft without TLauncher! YAY! 😃 But I didn't need the Profile Launcher.

Do not download Optifine from the link on this page, it will not do anything. Google search Optifine and click the first link, it will take you to the official page with the .jar file that you can place in the mods directory.
