How to Install a DIY Sapphire Demountable Wall System

Once you’ve purchased and received your beautiful, customized Sapphire demountable wall system, the only step left between you and your new, modern looking office space is the installation process. But, don’t worry, it’s not as terrifying as it seems. One of the many advantages of the Sapphire demountable wall system is its quick and easy installation. If you’re reading this, then you must’ve decided to opt out of our available installation services. No problem, you can complete this project on your own in no time. Here’s how!

Step 1: Unbox Your Panel and Stand It Up Against a Wall

First, we install each individual column of panels. Our individual panels are available in laminate, fabric, or glass and you can choose any combination of these materials to complete your wall. This process is quite simple.

Step 2: Remove One Side of the Tiles in Order to Install the Panel Walls

Before you begin this process, mark the tiles (1, 2, and 3) with tape so you know where each goes when you put it back together.

Step 3: Removing Each Panel

To remove the tile, simply push each tile up and snap it off (pretty easy).

Step 4: Threaded and Non-threaded Buckles

On the inside of the empty panels, there are two buckles on each side. One is threaded, one is non-threaded. The threaded side connects panel to panel when you’re ready to install the panel columns to each other. If you have too many of either buckle, you can remove them and swap them around. The racetrack for wire management is located at the bottom of the panel.

Step 5: Install the First Panel

To install the first panel (the bottom panel) line it up and tap it into place with a mallet. Make sure the panel is level.

Step 6: Installing Each Panel

Repeat this step with each panel, working your way up to the top of the column. Careful not to touch any of the glass panels because they will get dirty.

Step 7: Panel to Panel Installation

Next, we install each completed panel column to each other (panel to panel installation). Combine the panel columns to create a room divider, office partition, private office, conference room, or huddle room.

Place the two panel walls side-by-side and make sure the top of the panels are level with each other. (Note: you typically leave one side of the tiles on the panel while installing)

Step 8: Connect the Two Panels

Use the specified bolt (1 1/2” long) and pass it through the clear pass through on one side of the panel (non-threaded) and screw it into the threaded buckle on the second panel.

Step 9: Screw the Panels Together Using the 5 Threaded to Non-threaded Buckles Along the Length of the Panel Column

Repeat this step into each of the 5 threaded to non-threaded buckles along the length of the panel column. If you run out of pass through (non-threaded) blocks, they can be substituted with washers.

Step 10: Install the Wall Starter Cover

Now, we install the wall starter and panel stabilization bar to securely hold your demountable wall into place from wall to panel and panel to panel.

Install the wall starter cover onto the wall exactly where you want your demountable wall to begin. The cover is an aluminum strip of metal about 3” deep and either 7’ or 8’ tall and hides the wall starter. Make sure the piece is level and then screw in sheet rock screws to mount the wall starter cover into place. Either cut out the wall molding (if you have one) or cut down the wall starter to accommodate.

Step 11: Connect the Second Piece to the Wall Panels

The second part of the wall starter is the piece that connects to the panel. Use the biggest screws to connect this piece to the end of the panel (4 screws).

Step 12: Replace the Tiles

Put the tiles that you removed before the first step during the panel installation process back into place. To install the tiles, simply slide them into place making sure that each tile is level and then tap them into place with a mallet. Install each tile working your way up the panel column.

Step 13: Slide the Panels Into Place

Next, slide the completed panels into the wall starter. With help, simply push the completed wall into place and then straighten out the panels.

Step 14: Attach the Panel Roof Stabilizer

The panel roof stabilizer is 10’ long and locks all the individual panel columns securely into place. Start by cutting your panel roof stabilizer to size to match the length of your wall.

Step 15: Press the Roof Stabilizer Firmly Into Place

Place the panel roof stabilizer into place and firmly tap it down making sure everything is lined up and flat.

Step 16: Screw the Panel Roof Stabilizer Straight Down Through the Panels

Use the 1 1/2” sheet metal screws to self-tap random holes straight down the panels to lock down each panel and prevent movement from the wall.

Step 17: Installing Your Sliding Door

Now that your demountable wall system is complete, you may install additional customizations that you may have ordered. For example, a sliding glass door.

The top rail already has clips, stoppers, and end caps. Get a measurement of how far you want the door to slide (the placement of the top rail bar over your doorway) and what side of the wall you want the door opening on. First, sit the bar exactly where you want it and mark where the clips are with a pencil.

Step 18: Measure the Height of the Doorway and Place the Bar in Position

Next, measure the height of your doorway. The height from the floor to the bottom of the clip should be 84”. Place the bar in position and mark where the clips land. Remove the clips with a screw gun, set them in the position that you marked, and screw them directly into the panel (not near the glass, but on the edge).

Step 19: Install the Bar

Install the bar by rehanging it to the precut cutouts where the clips were and screw it back into place from the bottom with the small screws.

Step 20: Install the Sliding Door

To install the door, first remove the bumper by simply unscrewing it from the top rail.

Step 21: Slide the Door Into Place and Reinstall the Bumper

Simply roll the door into the track. After the door is in place, reinstall the bumper by screwing it back into place.

Step 22: Use Double-stick Tape to Attach the Floor Track

Line up the floor track level with the door and double-stick tape it to any surface (your floor) after you’re done installing the door.

Now your brand-new Sapphire demountable wall system is completed, and your customized space has all the features that you desired beautifully installed.
