Introduction: How to Install a Rustic Porch Railing
My lender required me to add a railing to a porch on one of our house-flipping projects in Gunnison Colorado back in 2016
Supplies
I used a log that I found out back that looked like nothing more than a piece of local driftwood that the previous homeowner found down at the local quarry.
Step 1: Use a Hole Saw to Cut a Place for the Log to Attach
First, I used a 4" hole saw to drill into the main post on the porch in order to attach the piece of driftwood as a railing.
Step 2: Cut the Piece of Driftwood to Fit the Hole
Next, I cut the end of the piece of driftwood and made it so that it fit cleanly into the hole and then secured it with some 4" deck screws.
Step 3: Put Some River Rocks Around the Bottom to Secure It to the Ground
Step 4: Stand Back and Marvel at Your New Railing
Now stand back and marvel at your new railing and post it on social media to impress your friends and relatives.
