Introduction: How to Make 18650 Li-ion Charger Station for a Budget
A lithium-ion battery or Li-ion battery (abbreviated as LIB) is a type of rechargeable battery in which lithium ions move from the negative electrode to the positive electrode during discharge and back when charging. Li-ion batteries use an intercalated lithium compound as one electrode material, compared to the metallic lithium used in a non-rechargeable lithium battery. The electrolyte, which allows for ionic movement, and the two electrodes are the constituent components of a lithium-ion battery cell.
Lithium-ion batteries are common in home electronics. They are one of the most popular types of rechargeable batteries for portable electronics. Because there are so popular i decided to make a cheap charger that everybody
can replicate at home. For this project we going to need the following stuff:
Some charge board module for charge control the battery 4.2v fully charged 3.7v nominal and 3.0v empty
18650 Battery holders
Case or cardboard
wires
So let's get started
Step 1: My Source for 18650 Li-ion Battery
I take the battery from Poundshop power banks and inside these 1£ power bank there is the small module,
the battery, plastic casing, some rope wire thing and for a small application these batteries are more then ok
this is written on them 18650 1200Mah but i don't think for that price is the actual power but 900Mah is good enough
for lights, small motors like pc fan, relay, radio, charge the smartphone with 4xbattery 2 times fully charged
and manage to power multiple USB devices for a couple of hours. This charger that we will make charge the batteries 4 of them separately with 4 individual controllers
Step 2: Charge Modules Tp4056
This is the module in charge of charging the 18650 to 4.2v and the stop the charging process
and they have an over protection of low voltage for 3.2v they flash a blue led and disconnect the power
they required a 5v power supply of approx 1A they are not polarity protected so if you connect the battery to wrong position boom the small charger is burned
Step 3: Power Bank Poundland
All the stuff that you end up when you buy this power bank
First thing you have to solder wires like in the picture and just connect the charge module
according to the battery holder and remember do not reverse the battery
additional you can add some switches on all the modules
put the parallel connections and connect to the power supply
it has to be at least 5v 1.5A
Step 4: Cheap I Max Charger
As improvement, we can add a constant current tester
can be made by another power bank in between battery and controller connect the multimeter
as a load, we going to connect a USB lamp because in the discharging process is no need to lose the energy
we gonna power this USB light and a start-stop clock to record the time
At the end of the discharging process, we will find the capacity of battery by multiplying the time with the power consumption /60

Love those little single cell power banks! Very useful for parts!
I made a powered speaker for my sister that uses those as swap-able drop-in power modules with no modification! One bank is powering the speaker, while the other bank is charging elsewhere from a smartphone charger. Or, you can take several pre-charged power banks with you for outdoor parties...

Yes very useful you can visit noskillsrequired youtube channel i hav made some improuvement like 3 in parallel to have some real capacity,2-3 in series with no modification and it output 10v(2series) and 15v constant (3power bank in series) i will test some battery i have tested 1 and it has 1024mAh so very useful all the best

No probs check the video in more details is there somewhere all the best

Sorry but I don't understand, you're taking already mounted modules, dismount them, and remount ?

This are individual cheap power banks and the chip inside is very usefull thats way i take them apart harvest the batterys
and chips and remount them on a 18650 cases to be more accesible for charging batteries for many project if you will buy the chips are the same price 0.50-1.50$/piece Tp4056
