if you like my instructable vote for it in the contests!
of you have any other instructable ideas you would like to see i will do my best!
Step 1:
first joint your fire wood so it has 2 flat sides that are at a 90 degree angle.
Step 2:
make sure your band saw has a nice long fence and set your saw to your desired measurement plus some extra. this will give you something to plane off for a smooth surface. a deep/wide blade is recommended.
take your time and keep your wood square and flush to your bed and fence.
Step 3:
then cut off the unwanted bark portion.
you can also do this on a table saw if available.
Step 4:
now run it through your planer on each side and you'll have a beautiful piece of usable wood for your projects!

Nothing more satisfying than milling your own project lumber, especially if it's White Oak, quartersawn.
