Are you a fan of crunchy and yummy churros? Why bother spending your money when you can make one. This homemade churros are suitable for all courses either as a breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. Spending time with family and watching movies will be more fun with churros. It is very easy to make and only take a total of 20 minutes to be served! This recipe does not require much skills as the only challenge that you need to face is deep frying. How fascinating is that. This instruction will fully guide you from preparing until cooking this simple homemade churros and ready to be served up to four people.

Step 1: Prepare Ingredients and Equipment

Ingredients required for dough:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence

Items needed for deep frying:

  • 2 quarts vegetable oil
  • Piping bag with star-shaped nozzle

Optional ingredients and equipment:

  • Confectioner's sugar
  • Electric mixer
  • Nutella
  • Knife
  • Scissor

Step 2: Make a Dough

  1. Whisk egg with vanilla essence
  2. Boil water, sugar and butter in a saucepan
  3. Turn off the heat after boiling
  4. Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball
    • Tip: Stir as fast as possible to avoid lumpy flour
  5. Let flour mixture cool down for a few minutes
  6. Insert egg mixture into flour mixture and beat them evenly
    • Tip: Use electric mixture for a better result

Step 3: Start Deep-frying

  1. Heat 1 - 2 inches oil under medium heat until it reaches 375ºF
  2. Transfer dough into piping bag with the star-shaped nozzle
  3. Pipe strips of dough into hot oil using piping bag from above pan
    • Warning: Be careful of hot oil when squeezing the dough
  4. Cut off strips into 3 - 4 inches length using knife or scissor
    • Optional: You can cut it into any length that you prefer
  5. Fry until it turns golden
  6. Drain on the paper towels

Step 4: Serve

  1. Spread confectioners' sugars on top of churros
  2. Finish and eat time!

It is so easy, right? You can also serve churros with chocolate dipping or Nutella for more exciting taste ! I usually have them with Nutella but you can be more creative than that such as you can add cinnamon flavor or change vanilla essence with coffee flavor. Try it and experience yourself.     What do when the piping bag is not working well? It keeps on damagingg resulting for the dough to be messy
