Introduction: How to Make a Simple Duct Tape Wallet

About: Me me me, I like Duct tape, Doctor Who, and The Beatles. And frying stuff. Thats always fun.
This is just a simple wallet, good for beginners and people that may be having trouble with a more advanced one. This one is just a simple billfold and four credit card pockets, with an optional design. Keep in mind that this is also my first instructable (Yay!) and all of the photos are taken from my phone. Enjoy!

Step 1: Materials

For the materials you will need:
- One or two colors of duct tape. You may need more for designs.
- A ruler
- An X-Acto knife (exacto?)
- A pair of scissors
- A credit card or gift card

Step 2: Cut the Strips for the Billfold

Cut four 8 in.-8.5 in. strips of both colors. These will be used for the billfold. I say 8-8.5 because if you are starting out and/ or you suck at this, you may want 8.5 in. so you can trim your edges later on. You can go closer to 8 in. when you become more advanced, and do a couple of these.

Step 3: Put the Strips Together

Lay one red strip upside down. Watch out, because it folds over easily. Like in the first picture, lay the yellow on top so there is just a little bit of red showing. Flip this over. Lay a red following the straight pattern, as shown in the second picture. Continue this, and when you reach the final yellow strip, lay it so the end is similar to the one above, and the one in picture 1 and 3.

Step 4: Fold and Fold

Now you will simply fold over the small red part thats left on the ends, like in picture 1. Do this on both ends. After that, you will fold the Whole thing in half, as perfect as possible, hot dog style.crease it, and apply weight. Leave aside.

Step 5: While That Is Being Weighted...

Lets make the ends to our billfold. As shown in picture 1, measure the end, while its being weighed.mines a little more than 3 in. So, i made the strip in picture 2 a little more than 3 in. Now i have no idea why, but i cut it into five parts. you only really need about three.

Step 6: Putting It Together

Now the billfold should be in half, like in picture 1.You can now trim the edges. Dont trim to far, it cant possibly be that bad. the 2nd picture has me trimming it off. It should look nice when you get to picture 3. Add two of the three strips from step 5. you cut three for a better size, and in case one like falls on the floor or something.now you just put these on the ends!

Step 7: Fold Again!

Now we fold in in half like a normal Duct tape wallet. Look at the pictures. Set aside.

Step 8: Make Credit Card Pockets

Here you will need the gift card/credit card. Unroll a small portion of duct tape, in the color of the outside. Place the card ontop, like in picture 1. Cut with a little bit hanging off each end. See picture 2. Do this eight times, like in picture 3. Next, you will put two on top of each other, as perfectly as possible.. they shouldnt be any worse then in picture 6. You should end up with four (picture 5).

Step 9: More Tiny Pieces of Tape!

What will we attach these to our wallet with? Nothing other than more tape!!! First, you will make one more of the strips from step 8. Cut this into four horizontal parts. These are the four large parts in the picture. now take a strip of red and cut it into eight smaller pieces, about the size of the ones in the picture.

Step 10: After Its Done...

After the duct tape wallet is good and creased, now its time for the card holders (Yay!).  Line it up like in picture 2. put two of the smaller strips on the sides and one large one on the bottom. You just made one card slot! Do one underneath, like in pictures 4 and 5. now just repeat on the other side! You can stop here if you dont want a design.

Step 11: Design

Now, its time for design. I may make an instructable specifically for duct tape design, but. I only have so much free time. There are also videos on youtube that will probably explain this better, but, here we go:
First you will need to choose a design. Ill choose the McDonald's logo considering my wallet is red and yellow. Like in picture one, i will cut it out, but not too close to the logo. You will also make sure that the design fits on the wallet. You can either put it on the outside, or where the card pockets are.  As shown in picture 2, you will cut a strip that the logo will fit on. If it (the logo) is too long, make a second strip, and put it underneath. Tape the logo down and take the X-Acto knife, and cut the logo. I was left with picture 3. I put mine where the credit card pockets were ( 4th picture) and cut it where the pockets were.

Step 12: Your Done!

FINALLY, your done! You can make different variations of this wallet and add some stuff and whatnot. This is how mine turned out.
