Introduction: How to Make a Sonic OC (Original Character)

Do yourself a favor and turn back. Go on, click that little arrow pointing left on the corner of your screen. Oh, and clear your history.

Step 1: Step 1: Get Your Stuff Together

Wow, aren't you a brave one? Well, if you REALLY want to learn how to make a Sonic OC, I guess there's no stopping you. Anyways, you'll need:

- a computer

- the inability to feel shame

Got it? Then let's go.

Step 2: Step 2: "Borrow" a Concept

Take any official Sonic character you like, as long as it's a hedgehog. Yes, I know, it's supposed to be an original character, but hey, who's got the time to come up with their own ideas when you can steal from others?

Step 3: Step 3: Make It Your Own

Just switch the palette for your character, but leave everything else untouched. If you had to use anything other than the paint bucket doohickie for your character, you're doing it wrong.

Step 4: Step 4: and His Name Is...

This step is super easy. Just take a random name, put "the Hedgehog" after it, and there you go! Originality at it's finest!

Step 5: Step 5: Don't Use Your Imagination

Now, all you gotta do is come up with some terrible backstory that even a monkey on a typewriter could come up with. I usually just take Bruce Wayne's past and tweak a bit here and there. For example:

Vincent the Hedgehog was born to two loving parents, until one faithful day when Dr. Robotnik murdered them when he was only 9. He was then taken in by a clan of lethal assassins, who trained him to become a powerful warrior. After 10 years, the clan instructed him to murder an entire village, to which he refused, remembering the pain he felt when his own family was killed. Angered by his refusal, the assassins challenged Vincent to a fight, in which Vincent won. He now uses his assassin training to fight Robotnik's army of robots, and one day avenge his parents.

Step 6: There You Go!

Congrats! You have created your own Sonic OC! My mission ends here, but if you'd like, I also have some advanced tips for seasoned artists in the following. Also, this is of no relevance, but #Hercules2016.

Step 7: Pro Tips

Uh, that kid in the picture is totally not me. That's er.... my nephew.

That aside, once you've got the hang of things, here's a suggestion for taking things even further!

Give Your Characters Anime Hair!

Try taking the hairstyle of your favorite anime character, such as Goku, Natuto, One Punch Man, etc., and giving it to your character! Now, I'd show an example, but I don't think you want to see a hedgehog with Cory Baxter's hair.
