Normally keyboards are USB 1.1. The HUBs are 1.1/2.0. I dunno if there could be a problem joining them as you did, but the safest way is desolder the keyboard wire, soldeer it to the HUB output, then solder the keyboard controller directly to your HUB. In that way the HUB will be behaving as the keyboard was attached to it, that is perfectly compliant with the USB specficication

1. take usb2-usb3 hub.
2. unsolder keyboar-to-pc cable
3. solder cable to hub
4. solder keyboard electronics to usb hub
