How to Make a Wooden Chess Board

Im going to show you how to turn this into a chess board!

Step 1: Prep

Buy the size board you want with a little bit extra on the sides.

Step 2: Carve

Carve or burn lines into the edges to create the different squares.

Step 3: Clean

Sand the front side of the board to clean off all the rough edges and apply a pre stain so that the later stains apply evenly.

Step 4: Stain

Finally, add a desired stain to alternating squares to create a checkered pattern.
