There are many ways to eat and prepare Oreos. However, the consumption of an Oreo heart attack is one that needs to be tried. The purpose of this instructable is to show you how to make a very delicious dessert that requires very little preparation time and can be used for many types of social situations. This dessert requires minimal cooking skills and can last for a good amount of time if kept frozen in a zip-lock bag. The end product will be a unique type of Oreo that most people will find delightful.

Required Ingredients:

1 x family size package of Oreos

1 x 8 ounce block of cream cheese

1 x box of waffle/pancake mix

2 x packages of 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Required Materials:

1 x cookie sheet

1 x mixing bowl

1 x gallon sized plastic bag

2 x stove pots

1 x pan

1 x spatula

Blender or beater

Various mixing spoons

Various plates

*A blender is probably the easiest method to crush the Oreos, it requires the least amount of time and provides the best consistency. For this instructable, a plastic bag was used as a replacement.

**Depending on your cooking utensils, different types of mixing spoons will be used to mix the melted chocolate with the Oreo ball. Be sure to have at least two that are around the same length to make the process easier.

Safety Information:

As with anything dealing with food, it is advised to always use clean utensils and a clean working environment. Also the chocolate will be melted so be aware of the heat. Make sure to use appropriate mixing spoons to keep your hands a safe distance away from the stove. If a blender is used, be sure to be careful with the blade when extracting the blended Oreo mixture.

Step 1:

Remove 40 Oreos from the family sized package and place them into a gallon sized plastic bag.

*Note: If a blender is present, place the Oreos in the blender and blend the Oreos until you get a consistency that is similar to powder.

Step 2:

Crush the Oreos and extract the cream cheese from the package. Place both the Oreos and cream cheese into the mixing bowl.

*Note: Any method for crushing is acceptable. A plastic cup was used with repeated rollings. Also crushing with your hands is a very effective method for crushing the Oreos.
**Note: If a blender was used, place the Oreo powder into the bowl with the cream cheese.

Step 3:

Use the beater to mix the Oreo powder with the cream cheese.

*Note: The consistency should be similar to peanut butter, it will be thick. Make sure there is not any powder or cream cheese left in the bowl.

Step 4:

Form balls from the mixture and place them on the cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet into the freezer and let the balls sit for 60 minutes.

*Note: The balls should be around 1 inch in diameter and should be arranged in rows so they do not touch.

Step 5:

For the second part, put the pancake/waffle mix into a bowl.

*Note: Every pancake/waffle mix will be different, so follow the directions that are provided on the box. The one used here just called for a 1/2 cup of water. This part was not shown. Be sure to make enough for about 3 pancakes.

Step 6:

Begin to heat the stove with the cooking pan. Use medium heat or the one you would use to make waffles/pancakes.

*Note: Non-sticky cooking spray was used. This was not shown in the picture.

Step 7:

Put the remaining 8 Oreos in the pancake/waffle mix. Use a spoon to mix the Oreo around submerging it into the batter.

*Note: Be sure to coat the Oreo with a good amount of the pancake/waffle batter.

Step 8:

Place the battered Oreos on the pan for cooking.

*Note: Cook them until they are light brown and are still soft. Similar to that of a pancake/waffle.

Step 9:

Place two pots on top of each other with water in the bottom one. Begin to boil the water and make sure that the water does not touch the top pot. Place the chocolate chips in the top pot and wait until it has melted.

*Note: Only one bag of chocolate chips was used, although two could have been used. Use two bags if you want extra chocolate for dipping.

Step 10:

Remove the Oreo balls from the freezer and place them into the melted chocolate. Be sure to completely submerge them and move them around for maximal coverage.

*Note: A cooking spoon was used to move the Oreos around and remove them from the pot.

Step 11:

Place the Oreo balls on top of the Oreos that were cooked in the batter. Let them sit for 5 minutes before consuming.

Step 12:

This is the final product, also known as an "Oreo Heart Attack".

*Disclaimer: It is advised to not consume too many at once, they are extremely dense and sweet. Too many could potentially cause a heart attack.
