This is a three step instructable on how to pet a chiweenie.

Step 1: Find a Chiweenie.

That's right, go out to your local chiweenie supply store and find yourself a chiweenie.

Step 2: Extend Your Hand to Be Sniffed

This is the trickiest step. Once you have located a chiweenie, extend your hand at nose level and allow the chiweenie to sniff your hand. Be careful of any sudden movements. If the dog backs away or begins to growl, abort your attempt to pet the chiweenie. Allow the dog to acclimate to your hand near his face.

Step 3: Proceed to Petting the Chiweenie

Now that the chiweenie knows that you are friendly, and the chiweenie is not afraid of you, proceed to slowly extend your hand and pet the side of the chiweenie. Always be wary of any mood change. Be careful not to approach from the top of the head too suddenly-this tends to frighten little dogs like chiweenies. Now enjoy the moment!

I have a Chiweenie, I call her "Lucky", she is a rescue dog that had suffered a lot of abuse. The first couple of years I had her she bit several people, but I did learn to introduce her to guests and found that solved the problem. Your three step program, I wish I would have known sooner! When I saw the title, I thought step three would be "get the first aid kit". Lucky & I have shared 5 years together, she is a perfect companion now.
