How to Properly Stack and Store Wet Lumber

Introduction: How to Properly Stack and Store Wet Lumber

About: My name is Ronnie Lees Sutton, and I live in Modesto California. I own a small business that is called ITS A WOOD THING. I also have a Youtube Channel by the same name. I enjoy building projects of all s…

Recently I acquired 300 board feet of blue pine. I thought I would show how to sticker and stack it, and store it until it is properly dry.

First: Cut as many stickers as you will need to place between the wet lumber. It's important this stickers are all the same size, this insures the lumber dries evenly.

Second; Place 2x4 or 4x4's on the ground to start the stacking proccess.

Third; Stack the lumber on top of the 4x4's, then place wet wood on top, then place sticker on top of wet wood, and repeat until all wood is used.

Last; Place weights, or something heavy to keep wood in place and strait.

Info....... You should place your wood in a well ventilated area, free from extreme wet, cold or heat, and avoid direct sunlight. The wood need to be stored and dried for one year per inch of thickness.

You would be well advised to paint the ends as all timber dries from the ends . This will slow down the process somewhat but avoid checking of the ends
